our very own love story
Our love story is not without its challenges, but we’ve navigated them with a steadfast commitment to each other. It’s a tale of resilience, understanding, grace and a shared vision of a future filled with love and laughter.
we first met – seems like yesterday!
On the afternoon of May 20, 2013, the sun shone brightly as if it knew something special was about to happen. After talking on the phone nearly every day for more than three months, Chris traveled from Houston, and Shanta traveled from Newton to finally meet in person in Dallas.
we finally went on a date – only took a FEW MONTHS!
After months of anticipation, we finally went on our first date. After Shan’ta relocated to Houston. Most memorable dates included visits to Top Golf or RA Sushi. Our date may have taken a few months, but the wait made it more memorable.
we fell in love instantly – well almost!
Chris and Shan’ta stressed that they were only friends despite the pages of text messages and late-night chats they shared. Over time, after working together at YP and starting Lifeline together, it became unspoken that they were together. It became official one day when Chris stated or asked, “Why don’t you all move in with me.”
… and he finally proposed – AFTER 10 YEARS!
On Christmas Day in 2024, Chris finally proposed to Shanta in front of Shanta’s family, who were all dressed in matching pajamas while they were all gathered. Shanta was taken aback when Chris surprised her by giving her a notepad that included gift cards, each of which had a statement and significance. There was a question at the end of the notepad, and she was asked to circle “yes or no.”
